Evidence Challenges for Administrative Law Judges:
A Web-Based Courses

Administrative law adjudicators will be provided with the skills needed
to make evidentiary rulings with confidence. After this online course,
participants will be able to rule accurately on issues of hearsay, foundation,
privileges and burden of proof, and make correct determinations concerning
both expert witness and lay witness observations. Additionally, this course
will also address the residuum rule, official/judicial notice, and the
use of documentary and substantial evidence. This course relies heavily
upon real-world examples and interactive tasks. Participants will have
weekly assignments, online group discussions and six live Web conferences
with the faculty. It is anticipated that judges will spend between five
and six hours on lessons per week.
Qualifies as an elective in the Certificate in Judicial Development, Administrative
Law Adjudication Skills and Dispute Resolution Skills programs.

Law: Unemployment Compensation
This course is available by contract. Please contact

Brunson at (800) 25-JUDGE.
Judges who handle unemployment compensation cases are
encouraged to take this course. The course provides an in-depth review
of unemployment compensation law not covered in other administrative law
courses. Participants will analyze due process and other constitutional
developments affecting unemployment compensation adjudication, apply the
statutory requirements involved in Title VII cases and examine the admissibility
and credibility of expert testimony.
