This course provides judges with the opportunity to examine and challenge their present courtroom system, which will assist them in processing cases more quickly while adhering to all legal requirements. After attending this course, participants will be able to define the essential elements of an effective caseflow management system; develop strategies for handling areas resistant to more effective caseflow management; form criteria and time standards for cases; and invent strategies for getting and keeping judicial compliance.

Qualifies for 2 credits toward the Judicial Studies degree and the Judicial Management degree and as an elective in the Certificate in Judicial Development, Administrative Law Adjudication Skills, Dispute Resolution Skills, General Jurisdiction Trial Skills, Special Court Trial Skills and Tribal Judicial Skills programs.

Judicial Studies Courses

Any course with a JS or JM number after it qualifies for the Judicial Studies degree. The Judicial Studies Degree provides a formal academic setting in which trial judges or juvenile and family court judges can integrate technical studies of the judiciary with more academic ones in an effort to provide an intellectual assessment of the role of the American judiciary.
