After attending this course, participants will be able to meaningfully discuss the current issues affecting the law today. The course addresses currently developing legal principles. Past topics include the Patriot Act, the impact of the White case, identifying cases that are best suited for summary jury trials, and the impact of Crawford v. Washington. Upcoming topics include electronic issues, ethics, and recent United States Supreme Court decisions.
Qualifies as an elective for the Certificate in Judicial Development, Dispute Resolution Skills, General Jurisdiction Trial Skills, Special Court Trial Skills, and Tribal Judicial Skills programs.
