Education at the National Judicial College is both practical and intellectually challenging.  Judges have credited the NJC’s courses with giving them the knowledge, skills and ability to be more effective jurists. 

Chief Judge David M. Gersten has been upholding the rule of law for the past 30 years in the State of Florida.  Judge Gersten attributes much of his success as a member of the Florida judiciary to his education, for most of which the NJC has played an integral part.  Chief Judge Gersten said, “The NJC curriculum is the best that can be found anywhere in the country.  I’ve been fortunate to meet with judges from all over the nation and world, and enjoyed discussing ways to enhance our roles as judges and improve the way we provide justice to our constituents.” Chief Judge Gersten has made an impression on his constituents, not only in the state of Florida, but also at the NJC.  Chief Judge Gersten has been an active NJC participant since 1985, Faculty member since 1997, and Faculty Council member since 2007. 

Recently, Robin Wosje, the NJC’s director of Grant Projects and Special Initiatives, worked with Chief Judge Gersten in presenting the NJC’s first webcast: From the Second Amendment to the Death Penalty: Notable Decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court, 2007-2008 Term. “Chief Judge Gersten was instrumental in getting the NJC’s first webcast off the ground. His help and advice were invaluable, and we are fortunate to have him as part of the NJC family.”
