My Two Weeks at Administrative Law: Fair Hearing

Administrative Law: Fair Hearing

Administrative Law: Fair Hearing is an intensive two-week course offers specialized training for both state and federal administrative law adjudicators who wish to attend a foundation course in administrative law adjudication.

I traveled to the National Judicial College to attend the Administrative Law: Fair Hearing course during late October and early November of 2007. From the instruction and discussions during the day to the discussions and socializing during the evenings (and all the great food and company in between), I could not have expected or realized a more rewarding and wonderful experience. I am not exaggerating when I write I didn’t want the lectures and days to end, and was disappointed at quitting time each day. I enjoyed every lecture, every encounter, and everything about the experience at NJC.

My life is enriched because of the two-weeks I learned, lived, and enjoyed life among some extraordinary people! My state’s agency couldn’t pay for me to attend the training. But, new to my position and having always heard of the excellent training through NJC, I paid for the training and trip myself. And, as frugal as I can be, I would make the same decision again! I consider the cost as perhaps the best investment I’ve made.

Actually, I was a bit nervous about attending the training and wondered if I should save money and attend an available free training in my state. Had I decided to not attend the NJC course, I would have missed an exceptional opportunity to learn from some amazing people. Plus, I now have invaluable contacts throughout the country and in various disciplines.

I have never spent two weeks with such terrific minds and caring persons. I left the training much more knowledgeable, confident to employ what I learned, and inspired knowing such gifted persons as the instructors and participants are in places across our nation doing good work daily and making our society better in the process.

Administrative Law: Fair Hearing will be held this year in Reno on August 18-28. The cost is $1,495 and scholarships are available to those who qualify. Please contact the NJC Registrar at (800) 25-JUDGE for more information.
