NJC’s Whittiker and Wosje Appointed to New Positions

The National Judicial College (NJC) is pleased to announce the appointments of two longtime employees - B. Phyllis Whittiker as the College’s new chief operations officer and Robin Wosje as the new chief academic officer.

Whittiker, who joined the NJC staff in 1998 as a program attorney and became the academic director in 2005, will be responsible for the daily non-academic operations of the College including developing, maintaining and initiating policies, procedures and operational strategies. Prior to this recent appointment, Whittiker served as the NJC’s chief academic officer.

“I am looking forward to leading the College’s operational needs toward a fluid and cohesive format that will enhance the educational experiences of the judges who come here,” expressed Whittiker.

Former NJC academic director, Wosje, will now oversee the academic component of the College including curricula, faculty, learning materials and other elements essential to the judicial education process. Wosje joined the NJC staff in 2000 as a program attorney before becoming academic director in January of 2006.

“It is my goal to continue the College’s tradition of providing high standards in academic excellence,” said Wosje. “The College has always aimed to stay ahead of judicial trends and technology in order to provide the most relevant educational experience available. Our judges have come to expect superior programs and I am excited to oversee the process that will ensure their educational needs will be met and exceeded.”

Hon. William F. Dressel, president of The National Judicial College, appointed Whittiker and Wosje to the new positions on August 1, 2007.

“I am confident in the leadership skills of these two accomplished individuals,” said Dressel. “They bring with them a level of expertise that will enable the NJC to uphold it’s commitment to judges nationwide to provide them with the innovative and thought-provoking ideas that will enhance their delivery of justice.”
