NJC to Honor Molasky, Lionel for Advancement of Justice

RENO, Nev., June 6, 2016- On Thursday, June 16, The National Judicial College (NJC) will host a reception to present the Advancement of Justice award to attorney Sam Lionel and builder/designer Irwin Molasky. The event will take place at 5:15 p.m. at Spago in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.

The Advancement of Justice Award is presented by the NJC to those who have demonstrated dedication to improving justice in the judiciary.

Both Lionel and Molasky have generously donated to the NJC for decades. Lionel, who co-founded the Lionel Sawyer law firm in 1967, is regarded as being instrumental in the evolution of the legal profession in Nevada. Lionel recently funded the Intellectual Property Law Chair at William S. Boyd School of Law. Among Molasky’s philanthropic efforts have been significant support for the Grant Sawyer Center for Justice Studies at the University of Nevada. He also provided the land upon which the William S. Boyd School of Law was built and sat on the NJC Board of Visitors for 20 years.
Lionel and Molasky also created and sustained Project REAL ten years ago, which prepares Nevada’s children to become involved, participating citizens who understand their legal and social responsibilities and rights.
NJC President Hon. Chad C. Schmucker, NJC Board of Trustees Chair Matt Sweeney and Former U.S. Senator Richard H. Bryan will host the event.

“We are delighted to honor these two exceptional individuals. They had the foresight to see the importance of judicial education and with their help we now have the country’s leading judicial education institution,†said President Schmucker.
