Today we are mourning the loss of alumnus and beloved longtime faculty member Tracy E. “Ted” Page, 64, who was found shot and killed this morning in his home in Hobart, Indiana. In news reports, a prosecutor said the suspect taken into custody was a law client of Page from a civil case.
Judge Page was at the NJC just two weeks ago for a faculty development workshop and was scheduled to teach a course on traffic topics next month in Arkansas.
The following is a statement from Provost Joy Lyngar:
“A beloved member of NJC’s faculty since 1996, Judge Page taught more than 75 courses and had recently made the decision to join the NJC’s staff and devote even more time to helping judges gain skills and knowledge. Judge Page received high evaluation scores from his judicial peers around the country, not only for his legal expertise but for the warmth he brought to his presentations and his approachability and willingness to help students at breaks and during lunches. He exemplified civility and integrity; his loss will reverberate in courtrooms around the nation.”
