Through a grant from the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA), the National Judicial College is presenting this two-day course entitled Financial Statements in the Courtroom tuition free. The course will be held at the National Judicial College located at the University of Nevada, Reno campus. The course is open to judges in General Jurisdiction, Limited Jurisdiction, Specialty Courts, Administrative Law Judges, and Federal Court Judges and Magistrates.

During this course, you will learn to:
- Outline the components of financial statements and summarize financial reporting concepts.
- Describe the degree of estimation and judgment inherent in the financial reporting process.
- Clarify what “audited” financial statements are and what the role of the independent auditor is in the financial reporting process.
- Assess the credibility of business valuations experts to ensure they have the information they need to make informed decisions; and
- Define issues that frequently arise in litigation involving financial information.
As the sponsor of this course, the AICPA is providing the following for each participant:
- Tuition fees
- Travel costs up to $400 (airfare or mileage, parking, taxi/Ubers, ground transportation)
- Lodging at the Silver Legacy in downtown Reno for two nights (Wednesday, September 3 and Thursday September 4). Must stay at Silver Legacy to receive lodging benefit.
- Two breakfasts, two lunches and all day coffee service.
After registering online, judges who have been approved to attend will receive a confirmation letter, via email, that contains additional information about logistics for the course.
