Through a grant from the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA), the National Judicial College is presenting this two-day course tuition free with two nights lodging and a $250 travel stipend included. The course is open to all judges.

What will I learn?

During this course, you will learn to:

  • Outline the components of financial statements and summarize financial reporting concepts.
  • Describe the degree of estimation and judgment inherent in the financial reporting process.
  • Clarify what “audited” financial statements are and what the role of the independent auditor is in the financial reporting process.
  • Assess the credibility of business valuations experts to ensure they have the information they need to make informed decisions; and
  • Define issues that frequently arise in litigation involving financial information.

As the sponsor of this course, the AICPA is providing the following for each participant:

  • Tuition fees
  • Two nights lodging
  • Travel costs up to $250 (airfare or mileage, parking, taxi/Ubers, ground transportation)
  • Two breakfasts, two lunches and all day coffee service.

After registering online, judges who have been approved to attend will receive a confirmation letter, via email, that contains additional information about logistics for the course.
