Jury trials are real time, functioning examples of our Constitution at work. Learning how to effectively manage a jury can improve the quality of the resolution of the matter and contribute towards a just result.
Whether your docket is criminal or civil, jury trials are a part of everyday life for many sitting judges. Juries provide an impartial forum for litigants’ factual disagreements to be resolved. After this course, participants will be able to effectively prepare for the jury management portion of any upcoming trial. This program will offer suggestions for innovative time management and help the participant to better understand the many different components of managing the jury as part of presiding over all aspects of the trial. Jury trials offer the unique opportunity for the public to not only observe a court trial, but play a vital role in the administration of justice. Judges who are prepared to effectively manage this public engagement increase not only the public understanding of the legal system, but help ensure a just outcome.
