During times of societal conflict and claims of national emergency, the judicial branch has often failed to secure the promise of equal justice for all.

The NJC course When Justice Fails: Threats to the Independence of the Judiciary examines these themes in a historical context and explores how judges can be subjected to conflicts between the law and their consciences. Join the faculty from this course as they embark on a facilitated conversation about the role that judges play in educating the public, how history is relevant today, constructive ways to respond to observed racial bias, and the line between an active and interested judge and “activist” judge where ethics are concerned.

MODERATOR: Hon. Lillian Ransom

PANELISTS: Hon. Reggie Walton, Hon. Sue Bell Cobb, Hon. Reba Page
