The retired California Superior Court judge becomes the 28th recipient of the V. Robert Payant Award for Teaching Excellence, which is given annually.
The award is named in honor of Judge Payant, who served as the NJC’s dean and president from 1990 to 1998. He previously served 20 years as a Michigan trial judge.
Hora served the California Superior Court for 21 years. She presided over a drug treatment court and served as a senior judicial fellow for the National Drug Court Institute and the Global Centre for Drug Treatment Courts. She previously served as dean of the B.E. Witkin Judicial College of California.
She first attended the NJC in 1992. She joined our faculty the following year and has since been an instructor in nearly 60 courses, specializing in special court jurisdiction, substance abuse and DUI.
